Manchester United are reportedly exploring a surprise transfer move for a high-profile creative star as concerns grow over their lack of invention in midfield following Bruno Fernandes’ injury.
United head coach Ruben Amorim confirmed that club captain Fernandes will miss the upcoming Premier League clash against Wolves, leaving the Red Devils without their most reliable source of goals and assists during a difficult run of fixtures.
Fernandes had been enjoying one of his most productive seasons in a United shirt before picking up a muscle injury, registering five goals and seven assists in the league. His absence has exposed a creative gap, with Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte offering limited attacking output in central midfield.
According to reports from Spain, United are now considering an ambitious move for England international Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has endured a challenging spell since joining Real Madrid.

The former Liverpool vice-captain, reportedly earning around £280,000 per week, has struggled for regular minutes in La Liga, starting just a handful of matches due to fitness issues and competition for places.
Alexander-Arnold Seen as Creative Solution
Despite longstanding questions over his defensive positioning, Alexander-Arnold remains one of world football’s most gifted passers. His crossing ability and set-piece delivery have drawn comparisons to Manchester United legend David Beckham.
Former United defender Denis Irwin previously praised the right-back’s vision, describing his delivery as “as good as anyone in the game.” During his Premier League career, Alexander-Arnold recorded an impressive 67 assists in 259 appearances.
Reports suggest United, alongside Manchester City and Newcastle United, would be willing to pay around €40 million should Madrid decide to cash in. However, the player is believed to be keen on fighting for his place in Spain.
With uncertainty surrounding Fernandes’ long-term future at Old Trafford, INEOS are understood to be assessing multiple options to reinforce creativity and attacking depth ahead of the next transfer window.
