Manchester United have regained momentum, putting together a five-game unbeaten run that has injected confidence throughout the squad. The Red Devils currently sit seventh in the Premier League table and could have climbed even higher if not for consecutive draws in their last two matches.
Head coach Ruben Amorim is seeing his tactical vision take shape, and two players in particular have stood out for their consistency and impact: Bryan Mbeumo in attack and Matthijs de Ligt in defence. Both have featured in every league game, with De Ligt playing every minute, making them early favourites for the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for the 2025–26 season.
Casemiro: The Quiet Contender
While Mbeumo and De Ligt have grabbed the headlines, Casemiro has quietly delivered a season of remarkable consistency. The 33-year-old has started nine of ten league games, missing only the clash against Brentford due to suspension.

Casemiro may not have the stamina to operate in a two-man midfield with Bruno Fernandes, but under Amorim, he has reinvented himself. He is now virtually undroppable, offering elite positional awareness, reading of the game, and defensive stability. Since the Manchester Derby in September, United have conceded 14 goals, yet only two occurred while Casemiro was on the pitch—a testament to his influence.
Impact Beyond Defence
Casemiro has also contributed offensively, scoring three goals and providing one assist in the league this season. His ability to combine defensive solidity with attacking contributions makes him a compelling candidate for Manchester United’s Player of the Season award, even against early favourites Mbeumo and De Ligt.
