Manchester United Women pulled off a huge upset when they beat Arsenal Women 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium in the Women’s Super League.

Man United headed into the game as the underdogs but their performance was too much for the Gunners to handle at their backyard.

United started the game on the front foot and got a well-deserved opener from Ella Toone, who got on the end of Ona Batlle’s cross that was poorly cleared by Arsenal goalie Zinsberger with a precise effort.

The visitors led at half-time but shortly after the interval, the hosts fought their way back into the game following a deflected Frida Maanum strike.

Late in the game, Arsenal Women went ahead after McCabe’s cross fell nicely unto the path of Wienroither, who made no mistake from a close-range.

Manchester United dug in and got the eqauliser in the 85th minute when Millie Turner headed home Katie Zelem’s superb cross from a set-piece.

In the additional minute, Man United completed their comeback following a top header from Alessia Russo, with Katie Zelem providing the assist but this time from a corner kick.

Before Russo’s match-winning goal, Zinsberger was forced to make two brilliant saves in the space of one minute.

What record did Manchester United Women break after the win?

Arsenal had won their last eight matches across all competitions and were unbeaten in their last 15 WSL games before the defeat at home to Manchester United Women.

The Gunners had won all six of their opening WSL’s matches and conceded just one goal in the process but things changed after they encounter the Red Devils. They recorded their first defeat in the Women’s Super League and conceded more than one goal for the first time in the league this season when they lost 3-2 to United.
