Why Jadon Sancho didn't travel with Manchester United squad to Spain

Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho wasn’t part of Erik ten Hag’s squad that travelled to Spain this week ahead of friendly matches against Cadiz and Real Betis next week.

Man United will be involved in two friendly matches next week in a bid to build their fitness level ahead of the return of club action next two weeks.

The squad Erik ten Hag travelled to Spain with are the majority of the Man United players who are not involved or who took part in the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.

Jadon Sancho wasn’t part of the Manchester United squad, even though he didn’t take part in the World Cup.

The former Dortmund winger wasn’t included in the England squad for the Qatar World Cup due to his inconsistency under Erik ten Hag during the first half of the season.

However, the 22-year-old responded to the England snub by starting an individual training programme in a bid to get back to his best and starts firing again under the Dutchman.

According to Manchester United‘s official website, the England international will not join up with his team-mates in Spain because he wishes to continue his individual training programme as part of a process to get back to his highest level.

Sancho missed United’s last few games due to illness but before that, it’s as though he lost his starting place to Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Elanga.

Christian Eriksen and Hannibal Mejbri weren’t part of the squad that travelled to Spain due to their involvement in the ongoing World Cup.
