What Christian Eriksen said about first Manchester United goal, Fulham win

Christian Eriksen scored his first Manchester United goal during the game against Fulham on Sunday in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag lured Eriksen as a free agent over the summer but the Dane has gone on to become a regular starter under the Dutchman.

The former Tottenham midfielder scored his first Man United goal when he opened the scoring early in the first half after getting on the end of Bruno Fernandes’ deflected strike inside the penalty box.

On his first United goal, the 30-year-old said: “About time! I owed a few so I’m happy to be on the scoresheet in the last game before the World Cup. It’s been a good week.”

Manchester United‘s first half lead was cancelled out when Daniel James scored the equaliser halfway through the second half.

The home side dominated the second half, which made it hard for Man United to play at their but in the last minute of the game, the Red Devils made a rapid counter attack that led to Eriksen putting Alejandro Garnacho through with a brilliant pass and the young Argentinian made no mistake from close-range.

Speaking about the victory, the Denmark international told BBC: “I think in the end we’re just happy with the three points. It was a hard fought game on both ends but just happy with the win.”

Manchester United headed into the international break with a win and as a result, they remain in the 5th position with 26 points after 14 games and are three points off the top-four with a game in hand.

Although club action will take the back seat this weekend, about 15 Man United players will be in action for their respective countries when the World Cup commences on November 20.
