Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has reacted to Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview with Piers Morgan and said some of the things Ronaldo said was a ‘bit strange’.
Ronaldo requested to do an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored in a bid to expose what’s going on behind cameras.
Among other things the five-time Ballon d’Or winner said, he accused the Glazers family of running Manchester United as a marketing club and have zero cares about the club as a football club.
The 37-year-old also criticised Manchester United for not trying to catch up with the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and other top clubs, who have the latest infrastructures at their training grounds.
Ronaldo also claimed that Erik ten Hag doesn’t want him in the Man United team and said he doesn’t respect him because the Dutchman doesn’t give him the kind of respect a player of his calibre deserves.
The Portugal international also took a dig at Wayne Rooney for criticising him, insisting that the former England international criticised him badly because he’s jealous that he has retired while him is still playing at a high level at 37.
Rooney has defended himself by stating that he didn’t criticise his ex-team-mate but only tried to tell him that he’s getting caught up with his age.
Speaking to CNN, Rooney said: “He’s a fantastic player. Him and Messi are probably the two best players to play the game.
“It’s not criticism, what I’ve said is age comes to all of us, Cristiano is finding it hard to deal with that.
“He’s done a interview and it’s gone global, Bit strange some of the comments but I’m sure Manchester United will deal with it once they see the full interview and take whatever action they need to take.”
