This is Erik ten Hag ball! Manchester United started from the back and hit Liverpool's goal post

Manchester United players created a big chance from the back against Liverpool. And that was exactly what Erik ten Hag wants from his team.

Ten Hag wants his side to build an attack from the back, something which many fans think David de Gea would fumble at but the Spaniard has surprised many after he played a role in what could have been United’s fourth goal vs Liverpool.

After Anthony Martial had scored United’s third goal, Manchester United created another dangerous chance to make it four goals in less than 35 minutes but Diogo Dalot‘s strike was denied by the goal post.

David de Gea, while the ball was still in play, started the attack from the back after he passed the ball to Victor Lindelof. Lindelof passed to his nearest team-mate, Luke Shaw. The left-back looked properly and played an accurate long ball to Bruno Fernandes, who was close to the centre-circle and surrounded by two Liverpool players. Lost possession of the ball but still recovered it with ease. Played it through towards Jadon Sancho, who was running down the right flank. Sancho quickly put Diogo Dalot through with a precise pass but the Portuguese defender, who was already inside Liverpool‘s box, had a shot toward the goal post but his effort was denied by the goal post.

Though it didn’t end in a goal, many Manchester United fans were impressed by United’s ability, and technicality to create a dangerous chance from the back.

That’s something they struggled to do on several occasions under Ralf Rangnick.

Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial, and Facundo Pellistri were all on the scoresheet in Bangkok.

Manchester United will face Melbourne Victory next on Friday before taking on Crystal Palace on July 19. All in pre-season.
