"They were massive" — Bruno Fernandes hails five Manchester United players after Tottenham win

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has heaped praise on the backline and Casemiro after the win over Tottenham.

Man United silenced Spurs at Old Trafford on Wednesday night with a comfortable 2-0 win.

The Red Devils showed character and could have easily won the game by four goals margin but poor finishing or good goalkeeping from Hugo Lloris prevented that from happening.

Manchester United were solid at the back and nullified whatever chances Tottenham had tried to create to get back into the game.

Speaking after the win, Fernandes said: “The defense was massive. Licha [Martinez] Rapha [Varane], Casa [Casemiro], and the two full backs.”

The Portuguese star scored Manchester United‘s second goal and got his brace in the game late on but his goal was ruled out for an offside.

Fernandes was named as the man of the match after the game and told Prime Video: “As a player and individual I want to get more goals and assists of course. It’s part of my game and the position I play. I need to have that.

“I understand my position. I know when some players are on the pitch I respect their position and I know I will need to do different things to get the best out of them. I don’t have problems sacrificing myself for the team.”

Manchester United will face Chelsea this weekend at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

The Red Devils will look to maintain their momentum against the Blues, who dropped two points at Brentford following a drab goalless draw.
