“The performance was good” – Erik ten Hag reacts to Newcastle United draw

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes his side’s performance against Newcastle United was good and thinks United should have won the game.

Man United created some decent chances to break the deadlock in each half but poor finishing played their roles.

Fred and Marcus Rashford had the best chances of the game but neither was able to put the Red Devils in front.

Manchester United played well, controlled the game and were resilience at the back but only lacked the cutting edge in the final third.

Erik ten Hag told BBC after the game: “The performance was good, a clean sheet, we pressed well, we controlled the game and in stages we were good on the ball – especially in the second half. Then, we dictated the game and in the end we could – we should – have score the winning goal. One from Fred, and then [Marcus] Rashford had to score.

“In the end we could have got the win, we deserved the win. It’s a big compliment to the team that we deserved this with a physical performance against one of the most physical teams in the league. They [Newcastle players] all had cramp and we kept going.”
