Erik ten Hag is expected to use a strong starting lineup when Manchester United play visitors to Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League.
Man United started their European campaign with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad at Old Trafford after Ten Hag weakened his starting lineup against the Spanish side.
The Dutchman made a change to his backline, midfield and front line but his gamble backfired when the La Liga side stole all three points following a goal from what many football lovers thought was a controversial penalty.
Manchester United will look to right their wrongs against the Moldova side on Thursday night, knowing that any result other than a win or a draw would put their chances of qualifying into the knockout stage in jeopardy.
Ten Hag is highly likely to return back to the starting lineup that won him four Premier League matches in a row, including wins over Liverpool and Arsenal.
It has been widely agreed among Manchester United fans that the former Ajax boss would have used his strongest starting lineup against Real Sociedad if he had known that United’s league game against Crystal Palace would be postponed due to the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II last week Thursday.
However, with United obviously playing their last game of the month on Thursday, Erik ten Hag is highly likely to revert to the starting lineup that guided the Red Devils to four wins on a bounce BUT he could also decide to drop Antony instead of Cristiano Ronaldo in the lineup for Thursday’s game.
That would see the likes of Antony, Anthony Elanga, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Fred and Casemiro drop to the bench.
And the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Bruno Fernandes to return to the starting lineup.
Predicted Manchester United starting lineup vs Sheriff Tiraspol
GK: David de Gea
DF: Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia
MF: McTominay, Eriksen, Fernandes
FW: Sancho, Ronaldo, Rashford
Antony didn’t perform well against Real Sociedad and that could convince Erik ten Hag to retain Cristiano Ronaldo, who was lively a bit against Los Txuri-Urdin, in the starting lineup.
Furthermore, Sheriff Tiraspol got off to a winning start when they beat Omonia Nicosia 2-0 away from home last week.
