Former Real Madrid and Brazil left-back Roberto Carlos has named Manchester United midfielders Casemiro and Fred as both players he would have liked to play alongside during his playing career.

Man United signed Casemiro from Real Madrid last transfer window in a bid to help Erik ten Hag speed up the process to take Manchester United back at the top.

However, the midfielder hasn’t started a Premier League game since his arrival, thanks to Scott McTominay’s consistent top performances.

Casemiro may not be a regular at Manchester United yet, the former Real Madrid star started Brazil’s two international friendlies against Ghana and Tunisia and produced a world-class assist against the latter to help Brazil win 4-0.

Fred last started a Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion in August but was also called up to the Brazil latest squad.

The two Brazil internationals are quality midfielders and Carlos has claimed he would have like to play alongside the pair during his playing time.

“They [Fred and Casemiro] are players that have good [pitch] coverage and because I am very offensive. They are players that would cover well for me,” the former Real Madrid left-back, Carlos told Football Daily.

Both midfielders are available at Erik ten Hag’s disposal when Manchester United play visitors to Manchester City on Sunday in the Premier League.

The likelihood of both midfielders starting against Manchester City is slim due to Ten Hag’s trust in Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay but both Brazilians have a chance to pocket some minutes against City.
