Arsenal hero Robert Pires believes Memphis Depay would want to redeem himself at Manchester United.
The Red Devils offloaded the Netherlands star to Lyon in early 2017 after the 25-year-old failed to make his mark at Old Trafford under Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.
Depay has bounced back to world beater in France with some eye-catching patches of form and is now a regular starter for the Netherlands.
Some Manchester United fans have been watching his actions with Lyon in the French Ligue 1 side and they saw how the Dutch forward destroyed Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League group stages.
Just like some Man United fans who want the forward to be resigned, Pires believes the right-foot winger is interested in moving back to Old Trafford to correct his wrongdoings.
‘I think Depay wants to come back to the Premier League and he feels he has unfinished business in England,’ Pires told Bwin.
‘It didn’t work out for him at Manchester United and Depay is a very proud player.
‘He perhaps feels he wasn’t given a chance to perform and earn the right to stay longer considering he was so young and showed glimpses of undoubted potential.
‘Depay might want to return to Manchester United or he might be motivated to prove them wrong by performing for one of their rivals in the Premier League.’
Man United placed a buy-back clause in Depay’s deal to Lyon, as former manager Jose Mourinho hoped the former PSV star could fulfil his potential in France.
