Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has revealed how he and his team-mates plan to do take United back to the top next season.
After enduring what many have described as a horrifying season for Man United, The Red Devils finished in the 6th position with zero goals difference in the Premier League and ended the season without a single trophy.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed the World Cup winner from Real Madrid last season in a bid to help improve United’s backline but the four-time Champions League’s first season was thwarted by recurring muscle injury and illness, which also played a role in Solskjaer’s sacking due to poor results.
Varane, who waited for United’s third to last Premier League game of the season against Brentford to get his first Manchester United goal, has explained how United can bounce back to the top under Erik ten Hag.
“It’s a new season, it’s a new start, so everyone is excited to know about the new manager [Erik ten Hag],” the 29-year-old defender told Manchester United‘s official website. “Obviously, we want to do well and win every game so, for this, we’ll have to prepare for the new season.
“We want to be ready for the new season. We need to work very hard and there will be a lot of training sessions, and a lot of games, so I think it will be interesting and a great moment to work very hard and to prepare for the season.
“I think it’s a different atmosphere, it’s pre-season so we have to get fit, we have to prepare.
“I think it’s always exciting to play in front of our fans around the world, it’s a good experience for us, and it’s a good moment to prepare for the season.”
