Rafael Leao: Manchester United sent scouts to watch £60m-rated AC Milan star in Champions League action

Manchester United reportedly sent scouts to watch Rafael Leao during AC Milan’s matches against Chelsea in the Champions League according to reports.

Man United have been linked with Leao and reports that emerged this week claim that Erik ten Hag is a huge admirer of the AC Milan striker.

United were keen on signing a centre-forward over the summer after reports emerged that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave the Red Devils for a team participating in the ongoing Champions League campaign.

The Red Devils turned their attention elsewhere after it was made clear to them that Ronaldo was going to stay at Old Trafford beyond Christmas at least.

There are claims that the 37-year-old could attempt leaving the club again when the transfer window reopens in January.

With Anthony Martial struggling to stay fit and Cristiano Ronaldo likely to leave the club next year would force United into making moves in the market for a new striker.

According to Sunday Mirror, Manchester United sent their scouts to watch Rafael Leao in action during AC Milan’s ties against Chelsea in the Champions League.

The report claims that United boss Erik ten Hag is a huge admirer of the Portuguese forward, who’s valued at £60million by the Serie A giants.

Manchester United are keeping close tabs on the forward as they are aware that the 23-year-old is stalling on extending his contract with AC Milan despite a five-year offer worth in excess of £100,000-a-week being put on the table.

Leao, who has less than 18-months on his current contract, has scored four goals and provided four assists in eight Serie A matches but has zero goals to his name in four Champions League appearances.
