Manchester United will host Tottenham at Old Trafford on Wednesday in the Premier League and below are our predicted starting lineup.
Erik ten Hag raised many eyebrows when he started Fred alongside Casemiro in the midfield but his decision was justified following the suspension of Scott McTominay and the illness of Christian Eriksen.
McTominay is back from his one match suspension and is in contention to feature against Tottenham in the midweek.
Erik ten Hag isn’t certain whether Eriksen will recover from his illness in time to feature against his former club but what he’s certain about is that Manchester United have players who can fill in the void.
Fred was dreadful against Newcastle United and many fans are expecting the Dutchman to drop him against Spurs, which could give the fans the chance to see a Casemiro and Scott McTominay combo in the midfield but only if Eriksen isn’t fit enough to start at least.
The Red Devils are keen to bounce back to winning ways after their premature run of three wins in a row came to an end when United were held to a frustrating drab draw against the Magpies last weekend and a win over Spurs would take them closer to the top four.
However, Manchester United could be forced to achieve this win without the services of Cristiano Ronaldo and Fred in the starting lineup.
The pair were far from their best last time out and Ten Hag knows he needs to make a few number of changes to that lineup, which would see McTominay and Rashford get back into the team. The likelihood of Scott McTominay starting for the Reds on Wednesday heavily depends on the fitness of Eriksen.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick the last time he faced Tottenham at Old Trafford but the Portuguese star has struggled to replicate that form this season.
Ten Hag may decide to retain the services of Ronaldo in the team but the chances of this happening are slim.
The former Dutchman admitted after the Newcastle United draw that they missed the presence of Christian Eriksen, who isn’t 100% fit for the Spurs game.
“We miss him [Christian Eriksen] when he’s not available, but we have a squad and another 11 players on the pitch. So then we have to construct another team and we can bring players from the bench, who are all good,” Ten Hag told Viva Play.
“I don’t know if he [Eriksen] will be available for Wednesday but I hope [so], of course.”
