Manchester United are back in action on Thursday night when they host Real Sociedad at Old Trafford in the Europa League and below is our predicted starting lineup.
Man United boss Erik ten Hag has maintained the same starting lineup in the last four matches and won them all against the likes of Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester City and Arsenal.
The Dutchman is expected to make a good number of changes to his winning team as he is willing to give more minutes to his players, who haven’t played much this season so far.
New signing Casemiro is expected to start in the midfield alongside Fred, after he has made three substitute appearances since his arrival from Real Madrid, while forwards Cristiano Ronaldo, Antony and Anthony Elanga are all expected to start.
At the back, the Dutchman could rest both centre-backs Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez for Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire. Luke Shaw could return to the starting lineup as well but with Aaron Wan-Bissaka still out injured, Diogo Dalot could start for the Reds.
It wouldn’t raise many eyebrows if Ten Hag decided to start Christian Eriksen behind Ronaldo against the Spanish side.
Eriksen has played as a double pivot alongside Scott McTominay so far and a chance to play higher up the pitch would entice him I think. As such, Bruno Fernandes to come on in the second half.
Predicted Manchester United starting lineup vs Real Sociedad
DF: Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw
MF: Fred, Casemiro, Eriksen
FW: Antony, Ronaldo, Elanga
