Manchester United will host Manchester City at Old Trafford on Saturday and below is how I think the Red Devils’ starting lineup would look like.
Man United have been superb at home in recent months, having won their last nine matches on a bounce across all competitions.
It’s no secret Manchester United are plotting to make it 10/10 against their city rivals on Saturday and a win over City would cut the deficits behind 2nd-placed Manchester City to one point after 18 matches.
Alejandro Garnacho has been brilliant in recent games but I feel he’s not experienced enough to start a game as massive and crucial as this, hence making it easier to predict how United’s front line would look like.
Marcus Rashford is obviously starting against Manchester City, thanks to his current form, having scored in each of United’s last seven matches on a bounce.
Casemiro, who was left on the bench against Man City in the reverse fixture, is expected to start in the middle of the pack alongside Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes.
Predicted Manchester United vs Manchester City starting lineup
Goalkeeper: David de Gea
Defenders: Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw
Midfielders: Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes
Forwards: Antony, Martial, Rashford
Manchester City will be without the likes of Ruben Dias and John Stones due to injury issues as well but their absence isn’t expected to thwart City’s chances of dominating the game, hence keeping Man United on their toes.
Predicted Manchester City starting lineup
Defenders: Cancelo, Akanji, Laporte, Ake
Midfielders: Rodri, De Bruyne, Gundogan
Forwards: Mahrez, Haaland, Foden
