Pep Guardiola confirms Manchester City key player will miss Manchester United clash

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that John Stones will miss the Manchester United trip this weekend due to an injury.

Man City will take a short trip to the other side of Manchester on Saturday to face an in-form Man United side at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

A win over the Red Devils will cut the points behind Arsenal to one point pending Arsenal vs Tottenham result but a defeat to Manchester United will see them only sit one point above Erik ten Hag’s side after 18 matches.

The last time both teams met, Manchester City won the game 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium and while it’s obvious that it’s highly unlikely that City would dominate the return fixture as they did in the first one, they will be without John Stones, a centre-back, who has been brilliant this season.

The England international played 90 minutes as Manchester City beat Chelsea 1-0 at the Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup but missed City’s next two games against Chelsea and Southampton.

Pep Guardiola confirmed in his press today that he’s been ruled out of the game against Manchester United on Saturday and that would be the second time he’s missed the Manchester derby this season.
