Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in full praise on Axel Tuanzebe after Manchester United Champions League win over PSG on Tuesday night at Paris.
Man United got off to a winning start in the Champions League after going against every odd to beat the Parisians 2-1 away from home.
Bruno Fernandes scored the opening goal but Anthony Martial would score an own goal to hand the French side a little help. Man United would seal the game with a late win through an effort from Marcus Rashford.
David de Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford received praises for their performances against the Ligue 1 giants but Solskjaer raved about Axel Tuanzebe for marking his return from injury since 2019 with an unbelievable display against Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
“To see Axel [Tuanzebe] play as he has done – I think his last game was maybe Colchester – it’s an unbelievable performance by him,” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told MUTV.
“He’s only trained for a couple of weeks and he’s absolutely spot on.
“Axel’s [Tuanzebe] a tremendous defender, a great leader. He’s come through the Academy and we’ve known for years that he’s going to be a top player for us and he’s got the character and the attitude that a Man United player should have.”
The Norwegian boss was also impressed with his side’s performance against PSG and pinpointed that United’s upturn started after the international break.
Manchester United were rough-handled by Tottenham before the break. However, the Reds have since responded after beating Newcastle United 4-1 last weekend.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added: “These boys can play. They enjoyed it. Attitude, work rate… you know the team spirit has been fantastic since they’ve come back from the international break so it’s been brilliant.
“I know we have quite a few possibilities in the way we’re playing of course and you have to look at the opposition and how you want to play. I felt we played it right as we wanted it and all credit to them.”
