'Not good enough' - Roy Keane slams Manchester United duo after Brighton defeat

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has slammed Scott McTominay and Fred after Brighton and Hove Albion’s defeat, claiming that both midfielders are not good enough.

Man United got off to a disappointing start in the new Premier League campaign following their 2-1 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford.

It was a historic win for The Seagulls as Brighton haven’t won at Old Trafford in recent decades.

Scott McTominay and Fred started in a double pivot against The Seagulls but came short in the game after the visitors led 2-0 at half-time.

McTominay escaped a red card after a dangerous tackle on a Brighton star and failed to pose as a threat in the entirety of the time he spent on the pitch. Fred got hauled off for Cristiano Ronaldo shortly after the second half and that explains his performance, given Erik ten Hag’s decision to replace him whereas McTominay was on a yellow card.

Keane believes the duo, also known as McFred, are not good enough for Manchester United and will not take the club back to the top, although admitted that McTominay became better after Eriksen dropped deep in the midfield.

Fred and [Scott] McTominay are not good enough for Manchester United, they won’t get United back to competition at the top,” Keane said on Sky Sports.

“We see it week in, week out. Not up to it.”
