Several Manchester United fans did not take it lightly with the news of Adrien Rabiot demanding a mammoth salary ahead of what looks like an imminent move to Old Trafford.
Man United are reportedly close to signing Rabiot from Juventus this week after it was reported by many trusted outlets that United and Juve have since agreed on a transfer fee of £15million for the midfielder.
United transfer chiefs have held talks with the player’s agent, Rabiot’s mother, in a bid to reach personal terms with the former PSG midfielder.
And several Manchester United fans lost their cool upon hearing the latest news coming from Italy on the midfielder.
A user said: “Rabiot is mad. Tell him that. €6m a year of forget it.”
Another concerned United fan tweeted: “he is not okay.. he should collect 130k a week or getat.” A fan replied: “He should be on less than that.”
“Demanding 200K per week like he deserves it,” @UTDmando replied.
A Twitter user defends Rabiot’s contract demands saying: “Not bad. 3 years is the right time frame and €30m over 3 years is not too much to ask.” A user quickly put a stop to that by replying: “Its a insane amount of money for the mediocre player he is.”
Some fans compared Rabiot’s demands to what United’s current underwhelming players are receiving and believe that if Marcus Rashford earns £200k+, then Rabiot’s demands should be a problem.
“It’s £160k a week Rashford is on £200k and Cavani was on £200k,” said a fan.
Adrien Rabiot became a transfer target for Manchester United after The Red Devils have struggled to get Frenkie de Jong to dump Barcelona for a move to Old Trafford.
Although Rabiot is a few hours away from joining United, according to some reports, Man United are also keen on signing a forward and Cody Gakpo of PSV has been linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams.
It was also reported that Erik ten Hag is in support of the signing of Rabiot from Juventus, although the France star clearly wasn’t one of the targets months ago.
