Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha has turned down a chance to join Manchester United this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Reports emerged this week that Man United are interested in signing Cunha from Atletico this summer and talkSPORT described the striker’s move to Old Trafford as ‘close’.

However, reports coming from Spain has claimed that the Brazilian has snubbed a chance to leave Atletico this summer because he is happy at Wanda Metropolitano and wants to stay and succeed at Club Atlético de Madrid.

According to top tier journalist, Javi Gomara, Cunha said ‘no‘ when he was asked whether he’s interested in joining Manchester United this term.

The same journalist also confirmed that Matheus Cunha has not told Atletico Madrid that he wants to leave the club this window.

Manchester United reportedly offered €50million for the 23-year-old forward but Fabrizio Romano, who confirmed that United had held talks with Cunha’s representatives, reported that even if the La Liga side want to sell the striker, they would command more than what United allegedly offered.

United are keen on offloading Cristiano Ronaldo this summer and they are working on signing his replacement, although the Portuguese star is also keen on leaving the club for a Champions League team.
