Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has reacted to his side’s win over Liverpool.
Man United had lost their opening two Premier League games and were in great need of a positive response against Liverpool.
The Red Devils went against all odds and secured a well-fought 2-1 win over Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Jadon Sancho scored early in the first half and Marcus Rashford scored shortly after the second half before Mohamed Salah scored a consolation goal late in the game.
Rashford has suggested that he had the feeling that he would score because he was finding himself in great positions during the game.
The 24-year-old started at no.9 for Manchester United while Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial started on the bench.
Speaking after he made Erik ten Hag proud with his performance, he said: “It is a great feeling [to score] but it was important as a team to get off the mark. Now we can build momentum and on improved performances, we all worked hard today.
“Against a team like this opposition, the fans will always get behind us and they pushed us and kept us going. I felt I was in some good positions throughout the game, if you are not in the areas you will never get the chances.”
Rashford reacted to Jadon Sancho’s goal and thought it was a great goal, thanks to Sancho’s calmness inside the penalty box.
Marcus Rashford added: “Jadon [Sancho] scored a great goal, he took his time, was composed and hopefully it pushed us both now. We will give everything to reach this level and go beyond it too.”
