Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has claimed that Erik ten Hag told him to be a bit more dynamic against Omonia.
Man United trailed 1-0 at half-time in Cyprus, which prompted Ten Hag into making two substitutes at half-time.
The Dutchman hauled off Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho at the break and replaced the duo with Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford respectively.
Less than seven minutes into his cameo, Rashford scored the equaliser with a great finish. You can watch the goal here.
The England international would go on to assist Anthony Martial and score United’s third goal and his brace from a close-range, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo for the assist.
After the game, Marcus Rashford revealed that the manager wanted the players to make more runs into the opposition box.
“When he [Ten Hag] made the subs, he just wanted us to be a little bit more dynamic, take more chances going forward and just try and score goals, when you’re 1-0 down that’s what you’ve got to do,” Rashford told BT Sport.
On his favourite position, the 24-year-old added: “I think I can play both [on the left and through the middle], the left side is probably more natural for me. It’s a big positive to have [versatility].”
On his linkup with the Frenchman, Marcus Rashford added: “It was nice to link up with him [Martial] today to score his goal. We’ll be looking to do that more and more.
“He’s a massive player for us, he has been for a long time. When he’s happy and at it he’s an unbelievable player and I’ve always enjoyed playing with him.”
