Marcus Rashford reveals what he had in mind before scoring vs PSG

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford claims he became clinical late in the game during Man United’s Champions League clash at PSG.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring in the 23rd minute from the penalty spot but Anthony Martial scored an own goal to put PSG back into the game in the second half.

David de Gea had to make several top saves in a bid to buy time for Marcus Rashford to score the match-winning goal in the 86th minute.

Before scoring for the Red Devils, the England international had several chances to hit on the target but would rather pass the chances on. However, before his goal, the 22-year-old had a direct effort on target but Keylor Navas would push the ball off the pitch for a corner.  A relentless Rashford kept digging and his hard work paid off in full after scoring a superb goal late in the game.

Marcus Rashford revealed after the match that he thought to be clinical towards the end of the match because he might end up having just only one chance.

“I think as a striker when it’s late on, your mindset is you might only get one chance and you have to make it count,” Rashford told BT Sport.

“It’s a good performance, but one where we have a lot to build on. I always believe in this team. It’s important to believe in the system a manager chooses.”

Manchester United will face RB Leipzig next in the Champions League but Marcus Rashford believes Man United’s win over the Parisians has boosted their chances of reaching the last-16 stage.

Rashford added: “It’s a nice feeling and more importantly we’ve won the game and are in a stronger position in the group but it’s only the first game.”
