Marcus Rashford, Erik ten Hag react to Alejandro Garnacho performance vs Sheriff Tiraspol

Erik ten Hag and Marcus Rashford have reacted to Alejandro Garnacho’s performance during Manchester United win over Sheriff Tiraspol.

Man United extended their unbeaten run to seven matches in all competitions following a resounding 3-0 win over Sheriff at Old Trafford in the Europa League.

Erik ten Hag handed what was Garnacho’s first competitive appearance under his watch against the Moldovians and the Argentine impressed the Theatre of Dreams crowd.

The youngster created a few chances and posed as a threat on the left-wing, playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Antony.

And fans are already backing the Dutchman to start him against West Ham United this weekend, given Jadon Sancho’s recent struggles.

Erik ten Hag was happy with Alejandro Garnacho’s attitude against Sheriff and admitted that his performance was good.

‘I was not happy with him [in early weeks of the season], the last weeks I was happy with him, a better attitude, more resilience,” Ten Hag told BT Sport.

Garnacho played well, he was good in his action, so that was good to see.”

Ten Hag continued on Garnacho but this time talking to MUTV: “He deserved this chance after hard working.

“There’s still a lot of room for improvement, especially in the defending and pressing, but you can see in tight areas he can find solutions.

“He [Garnacho] is a really good tempo dribbler. He can outplay opponents with tempo dribbling and that is what you need against tight, compact playing opponents.”

Marcus Rashford was pleased with Garnacho’s contributions and has backed him to continue improving, and hopefully gets more playing time.

“He done brilliant. He expressed himself and played positive football,” Rashford told MUTV.

“I’m pleased for him and hopefully he can kick on now and start getting more minutes and performing like that.”

Diogo Dalot opened the scoring shortly before halftime. Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo scored one goal each in the second half to help United beat Sheriff Tiraspol 3-0.
