Manchester United will host Nottingham Forest on Tuesday in the Premier League and below are our predicted starting lineup and predictions and the team news.
Man United will look to continue from where they left off when they take on struggling Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford tonight.
The Red Devils maintained their momentum after the World Cup break with a comfortable 2-0 win over terrifying Burnley in the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup.
And Erik ten Hag and his players are only thinking about replicating that form in the Premier League when they host Nottingham at the Theatre of Dreams but there’s a high chance they could be without some senior players.
Manchester United Team News
The Red Devils are likely to be without the likes of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez because the centre-backs haven’t returned to Carrington as they are still observing their World Cup holidays.
But Ten Hag confirmed that Harry Maguire, who missed United’s win over Burnley last week due to an illness, returned to training on Friday.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, the Dutchman said: “The World Cup players are back [apart from Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez] and you can feel their energy and that they are excited.
“They are looking forward to [the Premier League] resuming.”
The former Ajax manager added: “Harry Maguire was back on the training ground on Friday, so I’m happy about that.
Diogo Dalot is out injured with a muscle injury while Jadon Sancho is poised to miss the game as he’s still training alone in the Netherlands.
Nottingham Forest Team News
The likes of Omar Richards, Giulian Biancone, Cheikhou Kouyate and Moussa Niakhate are ruled out of the game due to injury and personal issues. Dean Henderson, who’s on loan at Nottingham Forest from Manchester United, is automatically ruled out of the game as he cannot play against his parent club.
Morgan Gibbs-White, Serge Aurier and Wayne Hennessey have slim chances of making the squad against Man United.
Manchester United Predicted starting lineup
Goalkeeper: David de Gea
Defenders: Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw
Midfielders: Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes
Forwards: Antony, Martial, Rashford
Match Outcome: Manchester United to win. The Red Devils are dominant at home and will relentlessly keep the visitors on their toes until the final whistle.
Total goals: Over 2.5. Nottingham Forest are struggling at the back and with United now creating loads of chances per game, it’s feasible this game could produce at least three goals at full-time.
Nottingham Forest total yellow cards: The Tricky Trees will be on the receiving end and that will eventually force them into making some clumsy challenges. United have quick players, and this attract loads of fouls.
