Erik ten Hag is expected to use a different starting lineup when Manchester United come up against Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday night.
Man United have endured a dreadful start to the season, losing two winnable games 2-1 against Brighton and Hove Albion and 4-0 at Brentford.
The Red Devils are eager to get their season up and running under Ten Hag and planning on doing that tonight against Liverpool, who have also drawn their opening two games, is obviously a tough call but it isn’t an impossible task.
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United beat Jurgen Klopp’s side 4-0 in pre-season and while that was a friendly competition, it surely proves that LIVERPOOL ARE BEATABLE.
Anthony Martial, who took part and scored in that game, has returned from his injury and is highly likely to be part of tonight’s fixture. Would he get the thumb up to start ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo? We would see!
Reports are suggesting that the Dutchman is planning on benching Harry Maguire against Liverpool after he was seen pairing Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane on several occasions during his setup training for the cracker tonight. Victor Lindelof is still out injured.
Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are obviously expected to maintain their roles in wide areas but it remains to be seen if Ten Hag would drop either Christian Eriksen or Bruno Fernandes against the Reds.
Both attacking midfielders haven’t performed well playing together and if the Dutch tactician is planning on dropping either midfielder, then we could see McFred back in the midfield. And that’s something the majority of the fans don’t want to witness. Casemiro is not available for the game, unfortunately.
David de Gea to remain in goal, although he played a role in Manchester United‘s 4-0 defeat to Brentford last weekend. Who would replace the Spaniard? Dean Henderson has joined Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan and he’s done well so far.
Predicted Manchester United lineup vs Liverpool
GK: De Gea
DF: Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw
MF: Fred, McTominay, Fernandes
FW: Sancho, Martial, Rashford
Erik ten Hag on the Liverpool game: “I think the manager [and] the players. Let’s say this: you started to play football to have the experience of a game like this. So, we are really excited and we’re really looking forward to this game.”
