"Manchester United means everything" - Ella Toone reacts after signing new contract

Manchester United Women superstar Ella Toone said she feels delighted to have signed a new contract with the club.

Toone, who was part of the England Women’s team that won the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 earlier this year, has been an important member of the Man United Women’s team since 2018 the club was formed.

This season so far, the England international has scored twice and assisted twice in six Barclays Women’s Super League matches.

The 23-year-old also played a huge role in Manchester United Women’s run of five wins in a row in the WSL and is delighted to have extended her stay at the Leigh Village Sport until 2026.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Toone said: “[I’m] delighted to sign a new contract with this club. The club’s ambitions really match mine and there’s nowhere better for me to learn from. It’s a proud moment for me and my family.

“[Manchester United Women] means everything. To pull on the shirt every day and step out and play for the childhood club that you support is really special, and I’ll never get bored of pulling the shirt on and playing in front of our fans at our stadium.”

Manchester United Women are currently in the 3rd position in the WSL after five wins and one defeat in six games so far.

Marc Skinner’s aim is to finish in the top three in the WSL  to hand the Red Devils their first-ever qualification to the UEFA Women’s Champions League and to win their trophies.

Toone added: “As a club, our ambitions are so high now. We are hungrier than ever to achieve something. This club is about winning trophies and for us as players, that’s what we want.”

On how she feels in the team, Toone continued: “This is where I come in every day, and I’m happy and I enjoy it. I love the girls and the staff are amazing. It’s where I can really start improving as a player and person.”
