Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has hailed Casemiro after his solid debut against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
Man United sealed a tight 1-0 win over the Saints earlier today away from home, days after they secured their first win in the Premier League 2-1 over Liverpool.
Although Casemiro came in late in the second half, the former Real Madrid midfielder was still able to make his presence felt.
The Brazilian made some great blocks and interceptions that thwarted Southampton‘s chances of causing an upset.
After the game, Scholes said on BT Sport: “Having Casemiro is like an insurance policy, like a Roy Keane. You know that if I lose the ball, he is back there ready for it.”
Scott McTominay started alongside Christian Eriksen and played the entire game against Southampton, although Fred joined the mix in the injury time.
Scholes wasn’t convinced by McTominay and Fred’s impact as defensive midfielders but admitted that they are good going forward.
