Manchester United have reportedly shortlisted two midfielders as backup options should Frenkie de Jong’s move from Barcelona collapse, according to reports.
Man United are strongly linked with a move to sign De Jong from Barca this summer but as things stand now, the deal is unlikely to happen, with the Dutchman keener on staying at Nou Camp.
Though the former Ajax midfielder ranks high on Erik ten Hag’s transfer wish list, the 25-year-old is reportedly reluctant on leaving Barcelona this summer. And Barca have also insisted they are keen on keeping the midfielder beyond this summer.
Although Manchester United are not giving up on their pursuit of the midfielder, given that he’s Ten Hag’s top priority, The Red Devils have reportedly added two midfielders to their wishlist should their attempt to lure Frenkie de Jong, who resumed training with Barcelona on Monday, wasn’t successful.
Wolves’ midfielder, Neves, was a transfer target for Manchester United last summer but United failed to show strong interest in the Portuguese star. Tielemans has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford in previous seasons.
Should De Jong’s move be confirmed unlikely to happen, United would reportedly decide who to sign between Tielemans and Neves.
