Manchester United fans make Cristiano Ronaldo claim after poor Spain performance

Several Manchester United fans are agreeing on social media that Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer the force he once was after tonight’s poor performance against Spain.

Portugal needed a win or draw against Spain to proceed to the UEFA Nations League finals but a late goal from Alvaro Morata cost them the spot.

Ronaldo, who played every minute of the game, lavished several good chances he could have easily put to bed if he was a bit younger.

Shortly after the second half, Diogo Jota put the 37-year-old through with a defence splitting pass but the Manchester United forward couldn’t beat Unai Simon from a close-range. Watch here.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner would get more chances afterwards but he wouldn’t convert any, hence playing a huge role in Portugal’s defeat to Spain in Portugal.

After the game, several Cristiano Ronaldo fans are admitting that their GOAT is no longer as outstanding as he once was.

UtdFaithfuls tweeted: “Cristiano Ronaldo still has the mentality, but his abilities are fading, and it’s normal with age. No matter how much you love him, have to admit it’s time to gradually step aside. I’m not criticising him. Just a reminder that every good thing MUST come to an end.”

Cr7RapRhymes: “Ronaldo has lost his powers and its pretty acceptable at the age of 37 We have to accept he’s not the same guy anymore but for all those amazing moments he gave us during his prime years, we must not leave him alone during his last years. Always with you Cristiano.”

“Ronaldo dosen’t score nor does he lets his team mates score. Honestly, if Leao or Felix started in place of Ronaldo as ST then Portugal would have easily won this game. The GOAT is finished. Done. Dusted,” said Oletrain.

Another fan tweeted: “You people are expecting a 37 year old Ronaldo to perform like he is 22. It’s nature.”

Ilatif said: “Portugal need to understand that Ronaldo is finished so he should be benched. Man can’t dribble, pass, control a pass or even score kai.”

Not Trolling but this lose is all on Ronaldo, missed 2 or 3 Open Goals that would have ended the game earlier,” said another concerned fan.

Cristiano Ronaldo provided an assist against Czech Republic last weekend while his team-mates Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot scored a goal and a brace respectively.

Ronaldo has also lost his starting role in the Manchester United team, having started only once in the Premier League this season so far.
