Manchester United transfer target Frenkie de Jong has admitted that he wants to remain at Barcelona despite interest from Premer League teams.
Man United emerged as De Jong’s suitors following the appointment of Erik ten Hag, with many outlets claiming the Netherlands international ranks high in Ten Hag’s transfer list.
Barca are open to letting the midfielder leave this summer in a bid to resolve their financial issue but the midfielder has sounded out he’s only focused on remaining at Camp Nou.
“If other clubs call I will take the call, of course; It is something that is always done.”
When told his sale could help Barcelona financially, the former Ajax midfielder said: “I understand that. But the club didn’t tell me anything.
“They didn’t propose anything to me, so I am assuming that nothing is going on.”
Some Manchester United fans are already fed up with the Frenkie de Jong transfer saga, with many urging The Red Devils to turn their attention elsewhere since the Netherlands international doesn’t want a move to United.
A user said: “Please let’s move on and find someone else. He clearly doesn’t want to come. Forcing a move will be like another Di maria saga.”
Another one said: “Can we stop chasing people who don’t even want to be here ffs this is how transfers flop.”
“Right let’s move on then no point worrying about players that don’t want to join,” a user tweeted.
Manchester United are expected to be busy in the transfer window this summer in a bid to help Erik ten Hag bring success back to the club.
