Manchester United begin transfer talks with La Liga defender and Chelsea target

Manchester United have reportedly started talks with Villarreal over a potential summer move for Pau Torres, according to reports.

Man United are expected to splash the cash in the summer in a bid to rebuild their squad for their incoming boss Erik ten Hag.

Several senior players including Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard are all expected to leave the club in the summer.

The likes of Eric Bailly, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Phil Jones could also follow suit and United have been linked with moves to sign their upgrades.

According to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have outlined at least four centre-backs they would look to sign from in the summer.

The Italian journalist confirmed that Man United are discussing Pau Torres as one of three to four options as a new centre-back signing.

And Fab made it clear that United have not made any bid for the Spaniard yet and nothing has been official as well, as it depends on Erik ten Hag to decide if he needs him or not.

Chelsea are also interested in the Villarreal defender, who has a €55/60m release clause in his contract with the Yellow Submarine.

Pau Torres was a transfer target for Manchester United last year but United ended up signing Raphael Varane, who has struggled with different injury and illness issues.
