Manchester United announce jersey number for Christian Eriksen

Manchester United have announced that new signing Christian Eriksen will don jersey No.14 for next season, previously worn by Jesse Lingard.

Man United signed Eriksen as a free agent following his short spell at Brentford City last season and handed the former Tottenham midfielder a three-year deal with an option to make it four.

Manchester United’s official website reveals that Christian Eriksen will don jersey no.14 for next season, a shirt number that was previously worn by Jesse Lingard. Lingard left United as a free agent when his contract expired in the summer and has signed for newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

United have also confirmed that Lisandro Martinez, who joined Manchester United from Ajax for a reported £55million transfer fee, will don jersey no.6, which was previously worn by Paul Pogba.

Eriksen started and scored a free-kick in the first half, as reported by MEN, on Wednesday during a behind-closed-doors friendly game against National League side Wrexham. United went on to win the tie 4-1 at Carrington.

The Dane is increasingly likely to feature against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano this weekend in Oslo provided he’s injury free, as part of United’s preparations for next season.

“I’ve seen the pre-season games, and it looks good,” Eriksen told MU about Manchester United‘s pre-season results and performances. “The team looks good. I think [silverware is] definitely something that we can push for and I hope I can help the fans to be able to come to the games and enjoy the football that we’re going to play.”
