Lisandro Martinez has hailed Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo after their performances aided Manchester United beat Sheriff Tiraspol.

Man United bounced back to winning ways following an easy 2-0 win over Sheriff on Thursday evening in the Europa League, having lost their opening group stage game 1-0 to Real Sociedad at Old Trafford last week.

Jadon Sancho opened the scoring with a beautiful effort midway through the first half and Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the season from the penalty spot minutes before the first half whistle.

Martinez was pleased with both goalscorers, although he believes Ronaldo’s goal would help build his confidence.

“We know how big Cristiano Ronaldo is, he is very important for us and that he scored tonight, for his confidence and for the team,” Martinez told MUTV.

The former Ajax defender believes Manchester United‘s performance was ‘fantastic’, although he admitted Sancho’s goal was ‘great’.

“We got the three points, so it was very important for us,” said the Argentine. “We work very hard every day in training, so today Sancho scored a fantastic goal, but how we played was fantastic.

“Sancho’s finish was great and in the end, we all celebrate.”
