Manchester United will face Leicester City on Thursday night in the Premier League and below is our predicted starting lineup.
Man United recorded two league wins last week against Liverpool and Southampton at Old Trafford and St Mary’s Stadium respectively.
United may have won their last two games, but their performances going forward are obviously below what Erik ten Hag is demanding from his attackers.
And that explains why the likes of Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane were nominated as the top three favourites to win Manchester United‘s Best Player of the Month of August and the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga didn’t make the cut.
However, I do not expect Erik ten Hag to make a change to that front three, given the press and pace he gets from the young lads.
The only change I think the ex-Ajax boss could make is to drop either Christian Eriksen or Scott McTominay for Casemiro, who had a relatively decent second half debut against Southampton.
Although Leicester City will look to recover from a nightmare at Stamford Bridge, having succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to 10 men Chelsea, it’s obvious Manchester United will stick to their plans and try to add more salt to the Foxes’ wounds.
Should that be the case, Casemiro is increasingly likely to replace Scott McTominay in the starting lineup but I am not ruling out a chance that could see the ex-Real Madrid midfielder replace Christian Eriksen to start alongside McTominay.
Erik ten Hag wants agility and mobility in the backline but that starts from the defensive midfield and the likes of Casemiro and McTominay possess such attributes.
