Joao Felix lifts the lid on failed £113m Manchester United transfer

Manchester United reportedly offered £113m to Atletico Madrid for Joao Felix but the forward has claimed that he heard nothing about a move to United.

Man United were desperate to sign at least two attackers in the summer after Cristiano Ronaldo threatened to leave the club for a Champions League and were linked with several forwards including the likes of Cody Gakpo, Antony and Felix.

United showed interest in the Portuguese forward and reportedly offered £113m for his services but Atletico reportedly turned the offer down as they were reluctant to sell their key player.

As a result, Manchester United turned their entire focus on Erik ten Hag’s former player, Antony and signed him in a deal that could rise to €100million based on performances on the pitch, although they appeared they were close to signing Gakpo from PSV as well.

To be fair, United’s interest in Felix didn’t make many headlines as there wasn’t any official bid from Manchester United and the former Benfica star has backed that up when he said he didn’t hear anything of such.

Speaking to Marca, Joao Felix said on the Man United speculation: “I didn’t hear anything, that was something for the president to deal with. I am here.”

Antony scored on his full debut against Arsenal last weekend in the Premier League as United won the game 3-1 at Old Trafford.
