Jadon Sancho faces late fitness test ahead of Manchester United vs Brighton clash

Jadon Sancho may have recovered from an illness, but the forward his racing against time to be fit for the Manchester United vs Brighton and Hove Albion Premier League clash.

Sancho missed Man United’s last two friendlies against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano on Saturday and Sunday respectively due to an illness.

However, The Athletic report this week that the England international has recovered from the illness and is now in contention to feature against The Seagulls on Sunday.

The former Dortmund winger has impressed Erik ten Hag in United’s pre-season, scoring three goals in four friendly matches.

With Anthony Martial likely to miss this weekend’s game due to a minor hamstring injury, Ten Hag cannot afford to lose another attacking player, as it’s crystal clear United are short of options in that area.

According to MEN, Manchester United will give Jadon Sancho until the final training session on Saturday – if needed – to be fit for the Brighton game.

In addition: Several outlets have reported that Erik ten Hag, in the wake of Anthony Martial’s injury, could use a false 9 in his attack against Brighton. And the player who has been mentioned is Bruno Fernandes.

Should this be the case, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho would start at wide areas, leaving Fernandes to replace Martial at No.9 and Christian Eriksen to replace Fernandes at No.8.

Cristiano Ronaldo is not fit to start against Brighton, having missed five out of Manchester United‘s six friendlies. To be clearer, the Portuguese star has only added 45 minutes [vs Rayo Vallecano] in the tank under the Dutchman.
