Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho has explained his goal celebration against Sheriff Tiraspol.
Man United beat Sheriff 2-0 in Moldova to ensure their qualification for the Europa League round of 16 isn’t in jeopardy, having lost the opening game 1-0 to Real Sociedad.
Jadon Sancho opened the scoring early in the he game with a beautiful effort and was seen raising a shin towards the stands.
Speaking after the game, Sancho told BT Sport: “A little kid gave me some shin pads and asked me to wear them and I said ‘yeah, no problem’ and it was a little gesture to show I was wearing the shin pads he gave me.”
Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the penalty spot to help Manchester United beat the Moldovians side 2-0.
Erik ten Hag was pleased with Sancho’s performance and said: “I’m really pleased [for Jadon Sancho]. Another goal… he’s doing well, but I think there’s much more room for improvement for him, because he has so many skills.”
