International watch: How Christian Eriksen and his Manchester United team-mates performed tonight

Manchester United duo Christian Eriksen and Raphael Varane were in action tonight for their respective countries while Tyrell Malacia was an unused substitute.

Varane, who captained his country in the absence of Hugo Iloris, played 90 minutes against Austria and helped France to a comfortable 2-0 win at Stade de France, although his defensive partner Jules Kounde was hauled off midway through the first half with an injury. Didier Deschamps reacted by replacing the Barcelona star with in-form Arsenal centre-back William Saliba.

Christian Eriksen played 90 minutes against Croatia and scored the equaliser late on in the game with a brilliant finish. Watch here.

Despite the Man United midfielder’s individual brilliance, Denmark would go on to succumb to a tight 2-1 defeat at Croatia. Erik ten Hag and United fans would be pleased with their midfielder’s performance.

Tyrell Malacia was left on the bench against Poland as the Netherlands ran out with a comfortable 2-0 win.

United transfer target Cody Gakpo scored the opener. You can watch it here.

What are the positives from tonight’s actions?

Manchester United haven’t received any injury reports at the moment and that’s the most important, regardless of the results.

United will face Manchester City after the international break and Erik ten Hag would love to have a complete squad at his disposal in a bid to continue from where they left off when club action resumes next weekend.

England will take on Italy on Friday away from home and the likes of Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire could be in action, representing the Reds at international level.
