Iker Casillas names current five world’s best goalkeepers, as he snub big names

Former Real Madrid shot-stopper Iker Casillas has listed out his top five best goalkeepers in the world, snubbing some big names in the process.

The Real legend believes Thibaut Courtois of Los Blancos is the best goalkeeper in the world, thanks to his recent achievements with Real Madrid.

Casillas snubbed the likes of Alisson Becker and David de Gea of Liverpool and Manchester United respectively.

Alisson clearly hasn’t been at his best this season, although he has kept two clean sheets from seven games in all competitions. De Gea has impressed lately, helping Man United win four out of five games, keeping two clean sheets in the process.

The World Cup winner picked three goalkeepers from La Liga, one from the Premier League and Bayern Munich’s goalie represented the Bundesliga.

Speaking to 433, he named his top-five goalkeepers as follows;

  • Thibaut Courtois [Real Madrid]
  • Moraes Ederson [Manchester City]
  • Jan Oblak [Manchester City]
  • Marc-Andre ter Stegen [Barcelona]
  • Manuel Neuer [Bayern Munich]

Courtois kept a clean sheet as Real Madrid started their Champions League with a comfortable 3-0 win over Celtic away from home.

Ederson and Neuer also kept clean sheets as their respective clubs started their Champions League campaign with wins.

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has unperformed this season, although he played a huge role in helping the Blues and Ivory Coast win the Champions League and AFCON two seasons ago respectively.
