Former Barcelona defender Dani Alves has confessed that he loves Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo and admitted that he took long to say it due to the rivalry he had with him.
The Portugal international is highly regarded as one of the best footballers of all time while Dani Alves has been touted as one of the best fullbacks in world football, thanks to the number of trophies he’s won in his career.
Alves and Ronaldo came up against each other on several occasions during their times at Barca and Real Madrid respectively.
Millions of fans and several footballers may have admitted their admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo but that cannot be boldly said of Barca fans and their players, given the competition they had against the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and the damage the 37-year-old did in the process.
Alves, who no longer plays for Barcelona, has lifted the lid about what he personally thinks about the Man United star, now that both are not tied to the Spanish giants.
“I love Cristiano,” Dani Alves told Diario Record. “Now that we don’t play for Barcelona nor Real Madrid I feel like I can finally say this, because back then it felt like I couldn’t.”
