How Erik ten Hag could replace injured Anthony Martial vs Brighton

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could likely replace injured Anthony Martial with Anthony Elanga instead of Cristiano Ronaldo against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Ten Hag is forced to start his first Premier League campaign without Martial, who was set on leading Man United’s line alongside Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

In the wake of Martial’s absence, several thoughts have been shared across social media, with many tipping Ronaldo to replace the Frenchman despite not fit, and others backing Ten Hag to retain Alejandro Garnacho in the starting lineup.

The Argentine started and impressed against Rayo Vallecano last Sunday and attracted lots of praises from the fans as well as from Erik ten Hag.

However, Daily Telegraph have reported that Ten Hag is likely to use Anthony Elanga, who underperformed against Atletico, as Martial’s replacement but he would make some changes to the front line.

The outlet claim that Elanga is more likely to start from the right-wing, while the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho will start at centre-forward and on the left-wing respectively.

Sancho, who missed Manchester United‘s last two games due to illness, has reportedly recovered from the illness, according to The Athletic, and he’s in contention to start against The Seagulls.
