Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is poised on missing this weekend’s trip to Manchester City through an injury, according to several sources.
Maguire played 90 minutes as England held Germany to a frustrating 3-3 draw at Wembley in the UEFA Nations League group stage.
The Manchester United skipper, who had a dreadful game against the Germans, limped off into the dressing room and sparked ideas that he could be a doubt for the first Manchester derby this season.
According to Daily Star, the former Leicester City defender has now been ruled out of this weekend’s derby at Etihad following a knock he received during the game on Monday night.
Although, irrespective of his fitness level, Harry Maguire wasn’t really going to start the game against the Citizens due to his inconsistency this season.
Maguire last started a Premier League game against Brentford in August and it ended in an embarrassing 4-0 defeat away from home.
The 28-year-old started against Real Sociedad in the Europa League midway through September but it ended in a 1-0 defeat for the Red Devils.
Harry Maguire has seemingly lost his starting spot to Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, who have both paired at the back and helped Manchester United win four league games in a row.
Both Varane and Martinez are United’s obvious centre-back pairing and his absence wouldn’t affect the Red Devils this weekend, although Erik ten Hag would rather have an injury-free complete squad at his disposal.

His absence from the Man United travelling squad would give him enough time to get himself back in order after weeks of horrid moments.
United are occupying the 5th position with 12 points from six games but they have a chance to catch up with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City with 18 and 17 points respectively, when they face their City rivals this weekend. Both Arsenal and Man City have played a game more.
