Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has raved about Marcus Rashford, insisting that the England international is a fantastic talent, who is also a massive player for United.
Rashford endured a difficult spell last season both at Man United and England but this season, he’s been a joy to watch.
The 25-year-old has massively improved from last season and he’s a regular starter under new boss Erik ten Hag, having put out superb performances in all competitions before the international break.
Rashford has continued his fine for at the international level and was on target twice as England beat Wales 3-0 to qualify for the World Cup round of 16 as the winners of Group B.
In total, Marcus Rashford has scored three times in three group-stage games in the Qatar World Cup and also has seven goals for Manchester United this season so far.
Maguire believes Rashford has rediscovered his form again and agrees that performing in the World Cup is exactly what the United forward lives for.
“I am really pleased for Marcus [Rashford],” said Maguire. “I think he has really found his form again for Manchester United and he’s a massive player for our club. Throughout a long career, you will always have ups and downs — it’s all about how you bounce back when you’re out of form.
“He showed he belongs on this stage. When he gets that opportunity with the confidence that he has, he is a threat to anyone.
“Marcus [Rashford] is a fantastic talent and you see it day in day out when you train with him. It was a matter of time until he got his confidence and form back.”
England will continue their World Cup adventure with a game against Senegal in the round of 16 on Sunday and it’s left for Gareth Southgate to either feed on Rashford’s current form or revert to Raheem Sterling as his left-wing first-choice.
