Five Manchester United players are in line for contract extensions

As many as five senior Manchester United players are in line to get their contracts extended before the end of January, according to reports.

The likes of David de Gea, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford and Fred are all said to be in line for contracts renewals.

Erik ten Hag rates them highly and doesn’t mind having them in his squad beyond this season and as a result, MEN are reporting that Manchester United are planning on triggering the one-year clause in their contracts.

Ten Hag has spoken highly of Rashford and stressed out his importance in the team amid strong summer interest from PSG.

The England international has scored three goals in his last four Premier League games and is obviously one of Ten Hag’s regular starters at the moment.

Dalot has started all of United’s seven league games as well as David de Gea and both are hugely part of Ten Hag’s first team.

Although Luke Shaw has not won his place back in the team, Ten Hag still believes the England left-back is still vital in his squad.

Fred has struggled to get back into the team, due to Scott McTominay and Christian Erisken top performances.

Cristiano Ronaldo is in his last year of his current contract, although he has a release clause to extend his stay by an extra year.

The Portuguese forward was keen on leaving United for a Champions League club in the summer but somehow, he failed to make the move, hence he played his first-ever Europa League game last week against Real Sociedad. It ended in a 1-0 defeat for Manchester United.
