Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag resisted the temptation to talk about Cody Gakpo an interview after United’s win over Nottingham Forest.
Man United were poised on signing Gakpo from PSV but Liverpool went the quickest to hijack the deal right from under United’s noses and the forward is set on undergoing his medical with the Reds ahead of his winter move to Anfield.
Ten Hag held talks with the Netherlands international on several occasions about the idea of joining Manchester United but the 23-year-old reportedly snubbed a move to Old Trafford to favour a move to Anfield.
And when asked about Gakpo during his post-match interview, the Dutchman said: “I don’t talk about individual cases.
Ten Hag on United’s transfer activity: “We are always in the market, but it has to match the sporting criteria but also the financial criteria.
“We do what we can to bring in the players we need. We are looking for offensive players. We are looking for a striker.”
