Erik ten Hag's reply when asked if there's a big gap between Man United and Man City

Erik ten Hag was asked whether he thinks there’s a big gap between Manchester United and Manchester City but his reply has left many in suspense.

Man City have obviously been the better Manchester club in the past five years at least and obviously have won more Manchester derbies than Man United.

Both teams met early this season at the Etihad but Manchester City won Erik ten Hag‘s men 6-3, after two hat-tricks from Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.

However, fast forward to 17 matches, City are only four points ahead of Manchester United, who had a slow start to the season, and there are suggestions that United could actually go on and challenge for the Premier League title, something they still dream of doing since the 2012/2013 season.

Both teams will meet again in a crucial Manchester derby clash on Saturday and when Ten Hag was asked if there’s a big gap between his United side and Pep Guardiola’s squad, he said: “We will see tomorrow.”

Erling Haaland and Phil Foden made the difference in the reverse fixture and whilst Ten Hag acknowledged Haaland is a very good footballer, he also agreed that his team has what it takes to compete at the very top.

“It’s clear, he’s [Haaland] a really good player. But also, we have really good players. I’m convinced our players are good enough to compete with all the players from Man City,” said Ten Hag.
