Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has advised James Garner to impress him in training before making a decision on his future.
Garner got injured on the first day of pre-season and missed a chance to impress Ten Hag when he missed United’s friendlies against Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace.
The midfielder, who impressed on his loan with Nottingham Forest, returned to training this week, confirmed by the Dutchman, and will have a chance to impress the former Ajax boss against Aston Villa on Saturday.
There are suggestions that the English midfielder is more likely to seal another season-long loan move to Nottingham Forest than to remain and fight for his place at Old Trafford.
However, Erik ten Hag has confirmed that he’s yet to make a decision on the midfielder’s future because he’s not seen what James Garner can do in the midfield.
Hannibal Mejbri is another player who has impressed Ten Hag so far and there are claims that he could start against The Villas.
Speaking about the Tunisia international, he said: “Hannibal plays some minutes now, I think he did quite well in training as well, he makes a good impression.”
